Lame Supper

October 19th, 2016 at 04:15 pm

Health:
Breakfast - The usual (overnight oats, good belly, orange juice, coffee)
Lunch - can of fruit cocktail, chicken salad sandwich
Dinner - Tater tots.

My mom fed DS3 leftovers from their last night supper after school. DS2 ate a large and late lunch at school. DS3 was still at school come supper time (but he packed a substantial lunch including snacks). DH and I were not particularly hungry. So as a totally dysfunctional and lame attempt at a masquerade of a supper, DH put some tater tots in the oven.

What can I say? Some days are like that.

In other financial news:
We received our checks from our clients from last month.

DS2 received a refund check from the college for a course that he dropped.

Yesterday was a no spend day.

So what if your supper wasn't fabulous. You both weren't starving and it sufficed. I think sometimes when a meal I fix isn't gourmet I have been delinquent, but sometimes we aren't super hungry. And it makes those good meals even more special.

No one is going to fault you for that. It happens to all of us. We come home after work tired or maybe don't feel well. This morning, I was dealing with some kind of virus and did not feel like cooking, so my dh had beef stew for breakfast. It's food. And tater tots may not be the most nutritious, but it filled the bill.

I remember once I served oatmeal and popcorn for supper to my sons because that was all I had. I was a single mother. I felt really horrible about it, but they don't even remember it.

I actually thought it was kind of funny. I wasn't really worried too much because no one was starving.

My DH would love a meal of just tater tots ...
